Individual Therapy

Helping you to share your personal struggles to become more aware of what can be done to improve your well-being.

Life is more difficult than you’d like it to be. Perhaps you feel alone, you feel stressed, or you are stuck in a cycle that you cannot get out of. Stress, loneliness, or rumination – as scientific research has shown – can impair your mental and physical health. To experience the feeling of living a meaningful life with a sense of enjoyment and confidence despite all the challenges that life presents, it is important to overcome these negative patterns. I can help you identify those cycles, get out of them, and help you clarify when you get stuck in negative cycles. Ultimately, I hope to support you in moving forward in life.

Process Overview

During Individual Therapy, my aim is to provide you with a safe and supportive environment so that you feel comfortable sharing the difficulties you may have been confronted with. I will help you to get a clearer view of the cycles you are entering into. At the same time, I will support and guide you to explore your emotions, your thoughts, and your behaviors. As we explore together, I hope to help you get a better understanding of your needs. I also hope to help you experience new ways of relating to yourself and to others. This process may include exploring some of your past experiences. After all, past experiences may have shaped how you deal with your struggles. Being aware of these past experiences may help moving past recurring negative cycles, and replacing them with new ways of coping.  The ultimate goal of your individual therapy with me is thus to find a way out of the recurrent negative patterns that are causing difficulties in your life. In the end, my aim will be to help you feel more confident and more open to explore.

How to get started?

Individual Therapy is a collaborative process between client and therapist. For the therapist to be able to offer a secure environment, the client and the therapist have to have the same goals.  Before booking a first session with me, I would like to have more information about you. For this reason, if you are interested in starting a therapy with me, I ask you to fill out an intake form. I will review your information and answer you within one week to book a phone call. The first phone call (free of charge) will consist of a 15-minute conversation where we can both ask some clarifications. Alternatively, you can use the 15-minute phone call to complete your Intake Form over the phone with me.

As the client-therapist relationship is highly personal, it is possible that the intake reveals that I am not the best therapist to help you. In that case, I will do my best to refer you to a better suited therapist.

Individual Therapy Sessions

Individual Therapy sessions last 50 minutes and are usually scheduled once a week. Dates and times for appointments are discussed in session and planned for one month at a time. Sessions can be cancelled  by sending me an email or by canceling the invite that will be sent to your email once sessions have been booked (if 48 hours advance notice is given for cancellation, no costs apply). For more information regarding the costs, please see Fees.
